OREGON QUAIL (2022)

Created for itch.io Mini Jam 99 the Oregon Quail is (sort of) a jrpg inspired roguelike that focuses less on defeating your enemies and more on terrorizing them, stealing their stuff, and making a mad dash out of combat. This we felt accurately simulated an authentic “bird experience”. I worked primarily on audio design, and music composition as well as working on some scripting and implementation in RPG Maker MV. I also designed some of the gameplay concepts. The game was created in 48 hours, so the balancing could be more honed but I’m still very proud of what we did. You can try it here

OPERATION DREBBEL (2017)

In 2017 I worked with a team of 4 people on an exploration based twin stick shooter called Operation Drebbel. The project was done entirely in a Ruby framework known as Gosu. In this project my primary contribution was game logic such as health systems controls, hit detection, collision, and enemy ai and pathfinding. Unfortunately due to some legal mumbo jumbo I don’t understand this project was never deployed so if you want to play it you are going to have to borrow my computer.

MUSIC

Soundcloud / Bandcamp / Demo Reel

I’ve been a professional composer for a very long time having earned my bachelor’s of music at the University of Pacific in 2012. While I write a lot of music pretty constantly, below are a couple things that I actually got paid to do!

THE LIST (2013)

here things refers to loneliness and other things refers to craigslist

The List was a full length musical that I wrote, scored, directed, and produced until I couldn’t do it anymore and had to hand off some of the production responsibilities to a small team of friends. For the years of 2012 fand 2013 this was essentially my full time job and drew upon both my skills as a composer as well as my experience as a music teacher. It was eventually put on at the Historic Tucson Fox theater where it sold somewhere in the neighborhood of 700 tickets.

GAME DESIGNER

Github

Starting in 2016 until present I have primarily worked in game and web design. While working on a hand full of smaller personal projects, like a set of optimization tools for dungeon masters, a poker hand power calculator, and a Splatoon challenge bingo board generator, I have also had a part in a several larger projects.

COWBOY CUPID (2021)

Cowboy cupid is a fast paced, deck building dating sim arcade shooter that I helped build in Unity for my Games Systems class in 2021. Primarily I wrote the code that controls a lot of the game’s logic. Adding and shuffling text responses to your “conversation deck”, ammo management, and npc emotional parameters. Also I did all the music and sound design, as well as the audio handler that allows smooth transitions between the different tracks. I’m particularly proud of the Banjo-Kazooie adjacent speech sounds that each romantic partner makes.

The Senpai

The Senpai is a Seinfeld / Anime visual novel that you can play on this very website! I helped to design it as well as took care of a decent chunk of dialogue and story writing. I also did 100% of the things that you hear in it!

You are the Hero was an interactive theater piece I worked on with Daniel Park for the Philidelphia Fringe Festival. My main job was to develop appropriate music cues for the different activities the audience would engage with.
